Ståhl, Wightman, Neita, Diamond and Yousif among exciting Sollentuna Grand Prix entries

World discus champion Daniel Ståhl is set to be joined by a host of talented British athletes for the latest of Sweden’s Folksam Grands Prix on Monday night.

Coverage of the event in Sollentuna, near Stockholm, begins at 1200 EST and you can watch it live on RunnerSpace in North America, with the action available on runjumpthrow.com in other parts of the world.

Among the highlights could be the men’s 800 metres race with European medallists Jake Wightman, Elliot Giles, and Andreas Kramer – the home favourite – all expected.

On the women’s side, 1:59 runner Adelle Tracey goes up against Swedish record holder Lovisa Lindh. There is a similar story for British 800 metres champion Neil Gourley, who is down for a 2000 metres race alongside top Swede Kalle Berglund, who pipped the Scot by two places when setting a national record in the world 1500 metres final last October.

Over one lap, world and European relay medallists Emily Diamond and Rabah Yousif return to the track on which they won in 2019, while sprinter and Folksam Grand Prix debutant Daryll Neita is another Brit looking to open up her season in Scandinavia.

Sollentuna is the birthplace of Kajsa Bergqvist, the world high jump record-holder indoors, and it seems fitting that there is a strong lineup for her discipline. Commonwealth Games winner Levern Spencer is joined by locals Erika Kinsey (1.97 metres personal record) and Sofie Skoog (1.94 metres).

Swedish track and field stars always seem to turn out in good numbers for these Grands Prix and the inclusion of pole vaulter Angelica Bengtsson and shot putter Fanny Roos is no exception. Also competing is Khaddi Sagnia, whose 6.81 metres long jump personal best puts her second in the world this year while others on the runway include world finalist Thobias Montler and European junior champion Tilde Johansson.

A full set of entry lists can be found here, with an event schedule available on this page in local time.
